I've been coming here solo, with dates, and with friends, for over 7 years, for a couple of reasons: very good elevated pub food, excellent service, and "locals" ambiance. Not an IPA/Lager guy, but we're always able to find something good on their rotating tap list. Or get their yeoman/yeowomen Bartenders to make an excellent cocktail or two!
Our favorite options are their generous salads, fantastic burgers, sandwiches, and pizzas. Well, those and seasonal fried vegetables, skewers, and nachos. Yes, their food is good. Very good.
Eat here. Drink here. Be friendly.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - K R.Portland, OR020Apr 20, 2024
The last few times we have eaten here it's been a little lackluster. Paid around $20 for the pesto pizza, and I feel like I could've made a better one at home. The tomatoes were not cooked on the pizza but seemed like they were thrown on there last minute because they just fell off whenever I lifted up a piece. It also did not have much flavor for some reason. My husband got one of the chicken sandwiches, and the chicken was very dry and did not have any seasoning on it.
I also got some horrible food poisoning from a salad that I ate there about two months ago. We do love this place, and love how close to home it is, but sometimes I just feel like the food is not made with a lot of care.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Olivia I.Hillsboro, OR29294Apr 20, 2024
Worst customer service. We simply came by for lunch to ask if the patio was dog friendly. The bartender was obviously upset people were coming in for lunch as he just looked at people and shook his head. Once we were able to ask him a question he simply stated yes then walked away from us not asking to seat us or anything. We decided to go somewhere else.

Stopped in for lunch on a weekend...this is one of a handful of restaurants in the Bethany area.
The food is here is slightly above average but not exceptional...and the menu prices are high.
I had the lunch special of 1/2 sandwich and soup...soup was actually very good but the sandwich lacked any flavor sensation.
It still ended up costing $15...which seems high for a cup of soup and 1/2 turkey sandwich.
Drinks are good but also in the pricey side...not a bad spot but they seem to charge a bit more than they deliver.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3191872388Aug 12, 2023
We had a reservation for a specific date and time. When we came in we were told that two ladies sat at our reserved spot.
We were then given a table towards the back. Okay!
Our group started to trickle in,
and we had mentioned to the server that we will order then.
We went ahead and ordered. The food came. Portions were small for the price you are paying for.
A child's grilled cheese sandwich with a side of mandarin oranges came out to $9.00. A side of fries, which was really a small order came out to $8.00. When the waitress was asked she said it was $6.00. No big deal.
The fish and chips I ordered was from the lunch menu. It was $15.00. My only complaint is the coleslaw was stale. The fish, and fries were good.
Deducted points because the server didn't come to refill water. She also made it hard to split the bill. She said parties or table groups can only have one bill. Since not everyone had cash on hand. She made it difficult to pay with a card. She eventually split it into three checks, but you can tell she wasn't happy about it.
Given they weren't busy at all. The server could have been nicer, and more accommodating.
With the experience we had here, I wouldn't recommend this place, nor would I want to come back.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Darren H.Portland, OR02Apr 13, 2024
This had to have been one of the worst dining experiences in recent memory. There were a laundry list of issues but it comes down to poor service (place hardly had anybody dining) cocktails both had to get sent back, beer was flat, food was cold when brought out. For the prices being charged we won't ever be back. Would give it zero stars if possible.

$8 for an order of tater tots? No thanks.
We went next door to Taco Bell & got a burrito. Cheap.
Not sorry to see the establishment close. Hopefully the owners will find a new tenant that can do better.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sue S.Urbana, IL041Apr 2, 2024
Good environment and kind servers. I enjoyed the Hefeweizen and the pasta. Wing was okay and they allowed the sauces on the side. The thai peanut sauce is not that great though. Overall I had a good experience!

Been in the neighborhood for 8 years. This place has experienced a significant decline while increasing their prices. Their food is all frozen off a truck and the menus lacks originality.

This is a mixed feeling post. I love Bethany Public House. I think it's great for the area. That said, it's closing, but I feel like I know why.
They have decent food, decent prices, and a decent tap list.
That said, the owner or maybe manager (lady with shorter blonde hair) walking in at noon yawning and telling everyone how hungover she is doesn't help. Sets the stage for failure.
Furthermore, the bald bartender is the absolute worst, and he couldn't care less if you're there or not. It's not a welcoming feeling. If you hire the people who will advocate for your restaurant, you'll make it regardless of supply, labor, and economy issues.
Sorry to see you go.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
