Brenda and her crew are AMAZING Food is great and the pies are scrumptious. Great stop along Route 66 Texas to grab a bite, take pics and most importantly support a small business. Make it a point to stop you will not regret it.

Stopped here and don't regret it. It was very nostalgic and amazing to be here at the midpoint point. We had coffee to go and looked around the souvenir shop. We purchased a few Route 66 items and went next door to the old gas station where we signed the car.

Located right on the midpoint line for Route 66, the cafe itself is cute, with plenty of vintage memorabilia. I trust that the other reviewers who stated the food is good are correct. I will never know because I never got to enjoy it.

Stopped by the cafe mid-morning. There were plenty of open tables. They may have been short on staff, but only 5 tables were being occupied. The large party of 5 and another party in the corner booth left while I was waiting.

I stood around for an uncomfortable amount of time, with waitresses walking past me without making eye contact or acknowledging me. Finally, one of them did and told me to sit wherever I'd like, and made some remark about there only being 2 of them but they'd be happy to serve me and my friend. I was still cheerful at the time and the unfriendly tone caught me off guard.

We picked a booth - this booth and 3 other tables were unoccupied but hadn't been cleaned just yet. Once again sat there for some time with no one acknowledging us. We then watched one of the waitresses clean up an unoccupied table, while we sat at our booth full of dirty dishes. After she was done, she came back out and started tending to another unoccupied table. By then we had been waiting for about a half hour, I'm not sure why they would choose to clean tables where no one is sitting instead of a table with customers waiting. We ended up leaving without being acknowledged. It was a waste of time and a terrible experience.

Family friendly, good food, great company and the historic midpoint of Route 66. What else can you ask for. No one is a stranger here, the staff and owner treat you like you are a regular even if it is your first time. Do not be surprised if you have to wait for your order, they are popular between being at the actual midpoint of Route 66 for the tourist(s) and those who are locals, a good home cooked meals is the way to go on a Sunday Brunch for me.

      OVERALL
Roadside diner lovers definitely have to put this Adrian, TX, spot on their bucket list.

      RATING BREAKDOWN

      PARKING
There is sufficient parking in front or on the sides of the Midpoint Cafe building.

      LOCATION/AMBIANCE
Old skull 50 diners vibes. The Midpoint sign were Route 66 is smack in the middle between Chicago and Los Angeles is just across the street. There was a separate men's and women's restrooms. When are you done with your meal, peruse the gift shop connected to the dining area.

      THE GRUB
My daughter is and I shared a plate and a world famous ugly pie on 10/8/2022. It was more than enough food between the three of us.

+ Midpoint Burger - "Double patty 2/3-pound fresh Angus burger served with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard, mayo and ketchup. ($11.50). Add cheese $.50, green chile or jalapeño $1.00, snd/or bacon $2.00. Cooked medium.

Served with your choice of individual sized bagged chips which they will bring a basket filed with an assortment of options to the table before your burger is served. Both of my girls chose Funyuns. Lol.

+ Chocolate peanut "Ugly" pie. It was a huge slice. It was OK.

You may pay for any gift shop items and your meal at the register when you're done.

      LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB
No kid's menu. The portions are huge so I recommend sharing a plate with a child.

      SERVICE
A little slow at first, but all of the staff members were nice and hustled to get our order out.

      MY FAVORITE PART...
      The old school diner vibes.

      NOT SO FAVORITE PART...
The prices! I also wished that they served breakfast all day long.

While driving cross country we have to rely on gluten free near me app to find where to stop for food. What a treat that we stopped here. Get the burger on a gluten free bun. It tastes SO GOOD! The grilled cheese is so good too.
      Laid back atmosphere... nice staff.
Recommend the stop gluten free or not!!
Fun place to take pictures too.

If you want to experience true hospitality, you have to stop here. Check or call to see if they are open before making the special stop.

If you are lucky and can stop by when they are open - just walk on in and they will let you take all the pictures you want. Be sure to buy some souvenirs, a Mexican coke cola, get some food, and get some pie before continuing on Route 66.

What to eat? Ask the servers for their recommendations. The BLT and the bologna sandwiches are the best. These are high quality bologna (look & tastes more like good ham).

Just stop and chat with the lovely people who work here - I promise they will make you day! Just be sure to call ahead and come when they are open!

Our family enjoyed this stop on our travels along Route 66. We met some interesting folks and bought a couple of souvenirs at the gift store. The breakfast was very good and sweet servers and staff. Make a stop on your travels for a blast from the past!

I'd have to rate this one two different ways, which is actually difficult. One for the restaurant, one for, well, the geographical spot.

First I'll do the latter: I geek out bigtime when I'm in a special geographical location. In this case, this is literally the midpoint for old Route 66. There's a special sign across the road from the diner that shows that you are halfway between Los Angeles and Chicago. The sign does raise a lot of questions. First off, Los Angeles was the original western terminus for Route 66 until the late 1930s. Since then it has been in Santa Monica, California. Surprisingly, a lot of people don't question it that much but historians have came to the consensus that Adrian is indeed the midpoint for the Mother Road. The sign is a great selfie spot and there's a line painted in the road that shows the Midpoint.

As for the restaurant, the food wasn't that great. I had a Route 66 burger (big one!) with chips (they don't serve anything fried). For dessert, their specialty, the Ugly Crust Pie, or close to the Pecan Pie. I wasn't ready to try the Green Chile Apple Pie! Despite of how I feel about the food, they do deserve any break they can, as they are one of many mom-and-pop businesses that have struggled bigtime during the pandemic. The restaurant's decor has lots of great memorabilia on the wall, and of course it takes great pride in its status as the Route 66 midpoint. They also get extra points for its giftshop, which is actually huge. The selection is unreal; they even have a Route 66 guitar! Definitely plan on spending $$$ on souvenirs if you can.

Fun stop on Route 66. Lots of atmosphere. Open Wednesday - Sunday 8-4 but the grill closes at 3pm. We has wonderful Pecan pie.

      Pecan pie a la mode.
