Q:
What time is happy hour?
A:
Happy hour is at 4 PM until 7 PM. That includes beer and wine and well drinks. But we do have two bars one inside and one outside.

The best ( shall I say more)
This restaurant always has great food. The specials of the day are great and the locals love it. They don't last during lunch. Fried shrimp is my favorite and the catch of the day trigger or mahi.
Great vegetables seasoned and the best slaw from an old secret recipe. Usually busy opening at lunch with a line but bar is good for singles it couples. Competes with a Restaurant on the island who also has great seafood but is higher in prices and only takes cash. Schooners accepts credit cards and has two bar areas where the other does not. Located on us1 at the gates of St. Augustine on the south area by Mose State Park. Great place to take your to go order only one picnic table and lots of parking with a dock and museum.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 1662681049Mar 1, 20241 check-in
I occasionally work in St Augustine and Schooners has been on my radar. I decided today was the day to stop in and see why their parking lot was forever full. I left scratching my head in wonder!
I arrived about 3pm and since I was a party of one sat at the bar. The bartender saw me seated but continued with her cleaning duties for an extended time before greeting me. There were employees seated at the end of the bar eating and having very loud conversation. Then the party got larger as it was obviously shift change so gathering grew and their conversations became louder and louder.
I ordered a an IPA from Ancient City Brewery. It was served in a mason jar.
I was offered an early bird special 12 fried shrimp with 2 sides and hushpuppies. The salad was modest iceberg lettuce grated carrot and a tomato quarter. Nothing special. The meal served the shrimp were butter fly, fries were crinkle. Now let's talk shrimp. Those things were not fresh nor were they crisp. The plate came with some red creamy sauce- tasteless. Now the shrimp were not golden and kinda mushy. I honestly think they were pre cooked dipped and flash fried. So weird.
I ate my meal learning things a person should never know about strangers. The conversations were intimate and loud.
I never saw anyone that appeared to be in charge. Now I know and will wave the next time I pass.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Laurel G.Winthrop, NY39163Feb 9, 2024
We stopped in for an early dinner on our way to a concert. It's a Friday night and it's close to full.
We ordered, D got an order of clam chowder and ... nope, the waitress came back with some other kind, she didn't know they were out. She said sorry and it's on the house. That's fair.
Our food came - a fish trio for me, fried shrimp for D. My plate was cold, the food was cold. The waitress took it back to the kitchen to warm it up. D's was hot so he kept it.
Once my food came back, it was hot and pretty good! The scallops were great, mahi-mahi was ok, shrimp were so-so. French fries were piping hot. Mac salad was a waste of time.
Everything was adequate and our waitress was spectacular. This isn't fine dining but we left full and the bill fit the food! :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Feb 3, 2024
I actually wasn't a big fan of this place. Apparently it's very popular but the service, albeit very kind, was very slow. The food was decent but nothing special.

Very popular but I've had inconsistent quality. I definitely could not recommend any of their fried food.

Excellent choice for our son/grandson's 25th birthday celebration! Thank you Virginia from Best Western Historical Inn for referring me to Schooner's Seafood. Very good Seafood Platter, large portions. We ordered cold peel and eat shrimp they came out more room temperature but still delicious and we ate most of the lb we ordered. Our service was impeccable, she was always around when we needed her but not a hovering one at all. Thank you for an excellent experience.
Vegetable plate was great, you have to order a La cart but delicious!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jim G.Dayton, OH44Apr 10, 2024
If you like, bland, overpriced seafood, then this is the place for you! Fried shrimp, and the fried scallops were more breading than seafood! Very very bland at best! Very disappointed!

Great local seafood place! We discovered Schooner's in 2014; loved it then, and it's just as wonderful today.
This is just off the touristy path... has the ambiance of a dennys, but don't let that fool you... they have amazing fresh local seafood and more.
They also make a uniquely local favorite: Minorcan Clam Chowder. This is a red, slightly spicy, clam and potato chowder... using minorcan datyl peppers. Don't pass this up!
Speaking of Minorcan Datyl peppers... they sell hot sauce and vinegar sauce.
We had the Minorcan spicy shrimp and fresh catch breaded and baked (it was Mahi, or dolphin as it's called here in Florida... not porpoise- which is why we seem to have adopted the California name for them).
The sides were all good... the squash casserole was really good.
We finished off with a peanut butter pie... lite and smooth.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 21, 2023
A bunch of guys from our neighborhood went here for lunch one day and overall had a nice lunch.
The server did a great job handling our large group which is not Leah's easy to do.
The fresh seafood was delicious, I had a blackened fish, i believe it was grouper and it was very tasty. However the lunch portions of the fish were pretty small. They give you 2 sides and those are generous portions.
The place fills up quick at lunch time. We got there a little before 11 when they open and there were already people waiting outside. Very popular place.
The restaurant was clean and a little on the rustic side but very comfortable.
I'd go back again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
