Does the store carry the original Dr. Pepper soda?

I would love to find Aspen soda. Do you carry it?
A:
I don't recall seeing that at Galco's . You do know that PepsiCo felt it was not any good when they purchase it from Aspen so they came out with SLICE LIME and now SIERRA MIST.

Galco's is an institution! Great fun to browse all the sodas and candy. If you need an AbbaZabba or some crazy soda from your youth you can probably find it here.

For someone who doesn't get to go here regularly because we live on the other side of the country, this is a 5 star treat. A trip down memory lane for some sodas I haven't seen in a long time plus intriguing sodas I have never seen before. Intriguing snacks too. Spent a good bit of time strolling up and down the aisles looking at all the choices. Prices are reasonable for the specialty they provide. Certainly cheaper than driving to the area of the country where the sodas are sold in grocery stores.
Nothing fancy about the store look either outside or inside. Space between the aisles is roomy. The employees leave you to browse. Decent sized parking lot.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Scott J.Venice, CA341Jan 2, 2024
Los Angeles iconic. If you love soda in the glass bottle form, this is your place. It's the only place where you can find hundreds of variations of soda. From yesteryear to this year, Galco's has it. Go à la cart or buy by the case, no wrong option.
I love nostalgia, and this place has it. Family owned, great people there. I hope it becomes an LA institution for the next 100 years and beyond. It's your one stop shop for all things fizzy and bubbly.
Taste the history and relive the bygone eras of how any soda pop should be consumed. There is so much to explore.
If you live in LA, make the time. If visiting, pull out your map and make the effort. No regrets ever. Unique is its wonderment.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 17, 2023
I'm so glad I got a chance to visit such a unique shop! It really is a piece of Americana here and has been featured by Huel Howser himself! Galco's is not only just a soda shop, but also sells various small trinkets and toys, unique imported and classic candies, and they have a deli in the back if you're hankering for a sandwich.
There are some tables outside the last time I was there and from what I recall, they do close earlier in the evening.
If you're a soda enjoyer, then this IS THE SHANGRILA FOR YOU! Not only do they have classic favorites that everyone loves, but there are so many interesting seasonal flavors, soda imported from different countries, and even a soda fountain in the back for you to concoct your own bubbly beverage!
We visited in the cusp of the holiday season with Halloween already past, so there were some spooky soda flavors leftover, but there were also some warm, cozy classic "Christmas" flavors as well. The imported soda are from all over the world from Europe, Asia (if you buy something you can get at any other Asian market like Ramune, I'm not gonna lie, that's kinda an L), South America, and everywhere else. You can buy them by the bottle or by the entire box! If you're down to clown, there's a plethora of Faygo flavors I've never seen so well stocked anywhere else.
A MUST is the DIY soda fountain in the back where you can create your own flavor with the syrups there and even customize up to how bubbly you want your drink to be. There's a multitude of syrup flavors to add varying from fruits (classics like orange and strawberry to more fancy flavors like guava and huckleberry), dessert flavors (key lime, salted caramel, toasted marshmallow), floral flavors (rose, lavender, elderflower), and other unique tastes too, like sangria. I was so afraid that what I made was going to taste terrible since I added a lot of flavors, but I didn't over do the syrup so it just tasted like a slightly nicer fruity-floral sparkling water. This was really fun, so I'd definitely do it again!
We also got some of the cold cut sandwiches to go. Delicious and pretty sizeable too.
I'll definitely go again!Helpful 7Thanks 2Love this 11Oh no 0 - 06042May 5, 2024
I'd been meaning to visit Galco's for years. I finally did so today and shouldn't have waited so long. What a unique and fun trip down memory lane. The place is like waking into a time capsule. Tons of specialty old time sodas and candy. They also have a deli, where I ordered a turkey dip, which was great. They have a 'make your own soda' area, and my daughter made a 'cherry, root beer, vanilla' mix.. Not sure how that tastes, but she sure had fun making it. The staff, including the owner, were all very friendly and provided excellent customer service. What a great place that my family and I look forward to visiting again!

This shop could be a living museum for sodas and candy. It's full of Sodas and candies, from all over. They even have a beer and wine section. Walk through the aisles of small batch , hard to find sodas and you get a feeling of nostalgia. A visit to a museum but you can buy and taste a sample of the exhibits.

Makes me fee like a kid again! First time in a soda store. Self restraint kept my from buying every kind of root beer they had. Also my gf wouldn't allow that lol. We did end up with two sodas. She picked out one and I got my make my very own! Like a child I had difficulty picking out my flavors but since it was October nearing Halloween I decided to make a caramel apple soda and boy was it delicious! Tasted just like a caramel apple and I had so much fun making it!
Saw this as a reel on IG so that's how I found out about this place, which I definitely recommend parents and children alike come visit this hidden gem!Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 9, 2023
Amazing fun shop!!!
Galco's is a Highland Park traditional shop.
They offer many types of hard to find / vintage / traditional candies, toys, puzzles, sodas, beer, Asian drinks like tea and sake.
Everything is amazing. I spent a long time here.
For soda, they offer bottled Dr. pepper, tons of root beers, orange soda, Christmas drinks, ginger beer, peppermint flavors, just so many!
He also has beer from around the world. There's some really cool types in there. When I went, they had hard to find Iron Maiden beer! It was so cool!
I also ordered an interesting beer type, and the owner told me the history of the beer company and the bottle! The owner was there and he was so passionate about his store. He was so nice. He made the experience quite memorable.
You can also make your own soda! This is super fun for kids.
This is a must stop when in Highland Park or on your way to LA.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 500318795Jul 21, 2023
My boyfriend found this hidden gem and we decided to stop by here on a Friday afternoon for lunch! It can easily be missed driving by as it seemed very clustered together with the other stores/parking lot near by.
Walking in, you automatically feel like you're in an old school era with the music playing and ambiance of the whole store. From the front, there are hundreds of carbonated beverages to choose from as well as candies and chips from local businesses. In the back of the store is where you are able to pick out your freshly made sandwich. My boyfriend and I got the Hot Pastrami ($8.99) and it did not disappoint! The pickles were definitely my favorite as it added the perfect flavor alongside the protein and sauces.
They also have a DIY carbonated beverage section where you can pick out your preferred carbonation level and syrups in a traditional coke bottle! Everything about this place was amazing as well as the service! Will definitely come back to grab other sandwiches and more personalized sodas.Helpful 18Thanks 4Love this 15Oh no 1 - Marisela M.Los Angeles, CA212619Apr 6, 2024
Great selection of soda pop and wine. Yummy sandwiches 8 inch or footlong. Also a variety of candies.

Highly recommended.
You're literally stepping into history here. The business is over 100 years old (albeit not all at this location).
They've got a zillion different sodas, including many old-timey varieties. You can buy singles of most of them. They've also got wine, a very good selection of sakes, and many interesting beers.
They've also got a very nice selection of old-timey candies. Everyone loves those.
You should definitely also take the opportunity and make your own soda. It sounds gimmicky but it's not. You simply grab a bottle, add either lightly or heavily-carbonated soda water, add your syrups, and install the cap. The entire process takes about two minutes. Kids can do it and it's a blast. By the way, my green apple and caramel creation was top-notch and delicious.
The employees were all extremely helpful and friendly. The fun 50s music playing in the store is a great touch. And they make fresh deli sandwiches, t.
They've got a ton of free parking in their own lot so you have no excuse not to visit. We can't wait to come back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 1
