The fried plantains are perfectly crunchy on the outside but soft when you bite through it. I typically get an order of the plantains and dip it in hot sauce. It's a small, family owned and operated grocery store and restaurant. The food is delicious but the service is even better. If you're in the Olney area it's definitely worth a try.
When you walk in it's like stepping into a family members house lol... it's quite cozy. Low key reminds you of the small little restaurants in the Caribbean.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason S.Philadelphia, PA2189980Jun 27, 2017
There were two gentlemen watching music videos when I stopped in... I'm assuming they were the owners. Anyway, I placed my order and they told me how long it would take and invited me to have a seat while my food was being prepared.
I sat and chatted with them until my order was finished. They were extremely nice and told me about some other places throughout the city, etc...
As for my food... had griot and diri ak pwa. The griot was tasty and the portion was immense! Pretty sure the rice was made with coconut milk, the first I've had it this way... it was subtle and absolutely delicious. The pikliz was different than any I've ever had... I can't place my finger on it, but if I had to guess, maybe celery juice or something. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It also came with plantains and a couple fried dumplings. The dumplings were perfect.
Just a great all overall experience. Little mom and pop shops like these are the best, and make supporting local a pleasure. Go visit them and enjoy.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Vanessa T.Northeast Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA071Mar 1, 2021
Best tasting Haitian restaurant in the area , the wait time isn't too bad if you order in advance.

This is by far my favorite Haitian spot to patron in Philadelphia. The portions are huge. The service was relatively quick considering the food is cook to order (20-25 mins). The prices are more than reasonable given the size of the portions and the weight of the platter. I couldn't even wait until I got home to taste test the food. I had the griot platter, which came with 2/3 pieces of plantains, several pieces of griot, brown rice and beans, picklis, sauce and some other fried up pieces of delicious goodness which all came up to $8...I'm sorry, but y'all can't beat that! The restaurant is pretty small family owned spot and the neighborhood looks kind of sketchy (don't let that stop you from experiencing Chez Rosaire), but it is very close to the Olney Regional Rail line station (literally within walking distance).
I am definitely coming back and recommending.
The only con....didn't have a menu, but I wasn't tripping. They had what I wanted (griot).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Adriana L.Pittsburgh, PA030Dec 12, 2016
I give this place 5 stars not because it is fancy in any way, but because it is authentic, affordable, and relaxed.
I spent 3 years living in Haiti and am married to a Haitian, so I like to think that I have a pretty good sense of Haitian food and culture. This place looks and feels just like a little market/food stand in Haiti, but for me was even better. I was treated like an equal here (it doesn't always happen when you are a foreigner in Haiti), and the service was far more attentive than any other Haitian restaurant I've been to, either in Haiti or in the US. Very kind, very welcoming - that alone meant so much to me!
The food itself was also great. The portion sizes are monstrous and they give you the food in to-go containers because, basically, you'll get at least another meal or two out of this one meal (which costs about $10 I believe- there is no written menu but I'm pretty sure that's how the bill worked out). It was delicious, too! I'll admit that not all of it was as I remember it in Haiti (the rice and beans and the akra, for example, were not quite up to par for me), but the main dishes (we had beef tasso, conch (lanbi) in red sauce, and stewed veggies (legim)), were absolutely delicious and exactly like in Haiti. The fried plantains and pikliz were fantastic as well.
In all, I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants to try Haitian food in Philly. Thank you, Chez Rosaire, for a great experience!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cryptic S.Phoenixville, PA02Jan 27, 2020
Good food but HORRIBLE customer service. On any given day, even ordering in advance, you may wait over 1 hour for your food.
If you order marinade and they do not have enough, they WILL NOT tell you. Instead they may give you extra plaintain or whatever they want. Again, the worst customer service I ever experienced.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Beth M.Philadelphia, PA0261Jan 9, 2019
Amazing! I recently ordered catering here for my daughter's first birthday party. Her father is Haitian but we live far from the rest of his family and we rarely get to eat any good Haitian cooking. We ordered the rice with red beans, stew chicken, legume and plantains. We got SO.MUCH.FOOD! It tastes just like the food his family makes, DELICIOUS! I actually saved all of the leftover sauce from the chicken so I can use it in my own cooking later. It was the first time that many of our guests ever ate Haitian food and I can't even count the number of people who asked me the for the restaurant info. FYI it is cash only and you have to give her a cash deposit for a large catering order. Since we live in south Philly that meant driving kind of far twice but it was well worth the trip.

It was my first time ordering here . The service is great . Rosaire is very nice however when I got home I noticed the fish had an after taste as if it was spoiled. I had to throw it out . I thought it was just me being sensitive to smell but when my boyfriend had it he said the fish was spoiled after one bite . It seems as if the fish was left out or maybe the fridge is broken and then the fish was fried . I was looking forward to giving a great review just for the service alone but I have to be honest about the food . The picklies is also different ....I can't quite put my finger on it but it's not authenticate .

Been here twice now.. The food was on point both times- fresh and delicious. Portions are big, price is reasonable. Order ahead to avoid a long wait. I think they cook the food to order. This is my new go to spot. Highly recommend.

I drive from Delaware just to buy food here. The food has consistently been good, especially the griot.
